Celtic Irish Band

Lead singer and guitarist John has been part of the vibrant folk scene for a little while now and has performed with a number of different Celtic groups over the years.  He is also a well known composer and has penned local classics such as ‘Watch the fires burn’, ‘September Morning’ , ‘Robber’s Road’, ‘Main-lander’, ‘Lacewing Love’, ‘Morris The Mole’ and ‘Gower Song’.  Whilst John has a wealth of experience he is happiest when performing with Rocky Road, which is “where he wants to be musically right now!”

Larry on violin, mandolin and banjo started playing the fiddle aged 19 after leaving school, inspired at the time by bands like Fairport Convention and Steeleye Span.  He has played in numerous folk, bluegrass and country bands, as well as a few years with a gypsy jazz band, and a stint in the Swansea Community Orchestra. Larry has now however returned to his musical roots playing traditional Celtic folk music with Rocky Road.

 

Professional Music teacher  Rhian Clement  plays Classical & Rosewood traditional Flutes, Whistles , Vocals, and sometimes Piccolo and occasional Pan Pipes. Rhian is an accomplished Classical  musician who has performed with numerous well known orchestras and conductors , notably the LSO (London Symphony Orchestra)     .

Rhian loves playing ‘Celtic Folk Music ‘ with Rocky Road.

Legendary Bass player Clive ‘Wes’ Reynolds anchors the Band. Wes’ Rock & Roll background dates back to the 1960’s where he was a founder member of numerous seminal Bands eg ‘The CornCrackers’, ‘The Dream’ , and has also recorded with ‘The Untamed’

Wes has also played for a number of years  on various Cruise Ships, as well as a long stint as Resident Band member at Swansea’s Top Rank.

Wes is enjoying playing Celtic Music with Rocky Road where he can utilise his  many skills on – 5 string Banjo, Guitar, Ukele, Vocals , etc as well as his masterly skills on Bass. (Wes uses various Bass instruments, including ‘Eminence ‘ and Uke Bass  ‘ etc )
